The Incredible Story of Binny: Walt Disney World's Most Famous Trash Can

One thing we love about Walt Disney World is the level of detail and theming the Imagineers put into even the tiniest and most mundane things. In fact, we're that person taking pictures of the two weirdest things just to capture the tiny details: Restroom signs, and trash cans. That's right, at Walt Disney World, even the inglorious is wonderful.

And now it seems the rest of the world has caught on. People are talking about Disney's newest famous trash can, and no, it's not Push, though we miss Push terribly! (Push was a free-roaming animatronic trash can that spoke to guests in Tomorrowland. We loved him!)

This new famous trash can is not nearly so mobile as Push. In fact, there's outwardly special about it.

The can's name is Binny, and it lives in EPCOT's World Showcase, in the UK pavilion, right outside of the Rose & Crown pub. It's been blessed by a Reverend, a Roman Catholic priest, and Air Force Captain. Binny has a following, and of course, merch. And Binny became so popular that it had to be moved across the street where there's more room for crowds to gather for pictures.

If you're wondering whether there might have been drinking involved, we're going to say that's a possibility.

You see, Binny's rise to fame began with the Disney Day Drinker's Club (D3), which was founded in 2021. At the time, people were still looking to enjoy their drinks outside, but during festivals it can get awfully hard to find a place to set your drink. This is where Disney trash cans come in handy, and before you scoff, Disney trash cans are some of the cleanest trash cans on Earth! And sure enough, Binny saved the day. The group happened to have a priest with them who blessed the bin with some Smithwick's beer, and the rest is history. Binny is now the club's official mascot.

This is one reason we love Walt Disney World - These crazy stories and the Disney people who create them! Next time we're at EPCOT, you know we're taking a picture of Binny!
