Cupcakes of Walt Disney World
One thing that truly surprised us the first time we visited Walt Disney World, was that we thought the food would be standard theme park fare. We expected hot dogs, corn dogs, popcorn, burgers, pizza... and that's about it.
But at Walt Disney World, it can be a destination for the food alone. We are especially fans of the desserts. This week is a post meant to bring some eye candy to you, as well as highlight one form of dessert that can be elevated at Walt Disney World: Cupcakes.
Please note: Not all of these cupcakes are available all of the time. Disney often changes up menus during events, holidays, or even for the season.
Let's start with the special holiday cupcakes. Here is the peppermint swirl cupcake from the holiday celebration all the way back in 2012 (don't worry... you'll see how Disney upped their game since then).
Next, we have a mother's day butterfly cupcake, available this year during mother's day from Capt. Cook's at Disney's Polynesian Village resort.

And we can't leave out Halloween. Below is the Pumpkin Harvest cupcake from Trolley Car Cafe at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

And even if some of us forget about Earth Day, they never, ever do at Disney's Animal Kingdom because it is also the park's birthday! For Earth Day 2021, several themed cupcakes could be found.
We've got the Flamingo Cupcake from Isle of Java:

And the Bumblee and Turtle cupcakes both from Restaurantasaurus.

Then you have your "just because" kind of extraordinary cupcakes, like this mermaid cupcake from Art of Animation.

Those are pretty great, right? I especially want that mermaid cupcake. Or the bumblebee one.
But there are two more tricks up Disney's sleeve. The first, is the new classic. Every since Be Our Guest opened, fans of Beauty and the Beast knew that there had to be some sort of "grey stuff" to try - it's delicious! And Disney did not disappoint. In fact, they put the grey stuff on the master's cupcake, it truly is delicious, and you can find at at Be Our Guest at the Magic Kingdom.

But the newest news in cupcakes to hit Walt Disney World has been the opening of Sprinkles at Disney Springs (and also at Downtown Disney at Disneyland). This is a gourmet European style cupcake shop.

But what I think really stands out at Sprinkles is the 24/7 Cupcake ATM. In fact, you can get cupcakes and cookies from this automated machine whenever the desire strikes.
I think there has been enough sugar in this blog to convince you that food at Walt Disney World is a notch above what you might expect from other theme parks. And these are only the cupcakes! What food do you most love at Walt Disney World and why? Tell us in the comments or over on our Facebook page. Until next time...
