Disney at a Distance: Tomorrowland

Every week during the nation's COVID 19 crisis, we are bringing a virtual Walt Disney World experience to you. We've been working our way around the Magic Kingdom and it's time to end our night in Tomorrowland.

AND we have a special treat for you at the end of this post ... if you're a Disney fan, I bet you can already guess what it is!

But first... here are some magical extras you can put together for today's tour, both of which will come in handy for our finale:

  • Gather up some glow toys (glow necklaces, light up toys, etc)

  • Consider pulling out all the stops and setting out an array of tiny desserts - may we suggest mini cupcakes, brownies, and chocolates?

Because we've taken an entire loop of the Magic Kingdom, it's only fair to hop on the railroad to the closest stop to Tomorrowland. This particular video is from the front of the park.

When you get off at the nearest train station to Tomorrowland, you get to walk a lovely little path that winds behind the berm. Getting closer, you might hear the Tomorrowland sounds.

Did you know that all of the horticulture in Tomorrowland is made up of edible plants? We don't recommend trying to eat them, but the design was intention to embrace an image of a sustainable tomorrow.

Although Space Mountain is a coaster that takes place in the dark, some fans prefer to ride when the lights are on. It's a rare occasion, usually done shortly before or after a downtime. But because we can do anything on our virtual visit, you get to experience it now.

Ready for something a little slower paced? Great! Because Tomorrowland is not only known for one of the most intense rides at Walt Disney World, but also, one of the least intense experiences. The Carousel of Progress deserves its place at Walt Disney World because it was entirely designed by Walt Disney and was first exhibited at the New York City World's Fair, as the video will describe.

Ready for a laugh? Then, let's check out the Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor.

While we're still so sad that Push is retired, you could run into this guy:

All right, ready for our last ride at Tomorrowland? This is the whole reason I go there, to be honest: The Tomorrowland Transit Authority!

As you can see, it's getting late, and we know that what happens at the end of the night at the Magic Kingdom is the best part of any Disney day. So let's head on over to Main Street once more. Put on those glow bracelets and maybe lay out an exclusive dessert party for yourself for the best viewing at Happily Ever After... well... Ever.

In the words of Roy Disney that are spoken at the Kiss Goodnight:

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, on behalf of everyone here at the Magic Kingdom, we thank you for joining us today for a magic gathering of family, friends, fun, and fantasy. We hope your magical journey with us has created wonderful memories that will last a lifetime.

Walt Disney said that the Magic Kingdom is a world of imagination, hopes, and dreams. In this timeless land of enchantment, magic and make believe are reborn, and fairy tales come true. The Magic Kingdom is a place for the young and the young at heart. A special place where when you wish upon a star, your dreams can come true.

Until we see you again, have a safe trip home. Thank you, and goodnight.”

So, what's next? Well, we leave the Magic Kingdom and we're going to start doing a little more park hopping. One thing I've been missing in my life lately is spontaneity, so from here on out, when we park hop, you might not know which park or which land we'll be in next. It'll be a lovely little surprise each week. Don't worry. I already have some wonderful destinations in mind.

It's hard when we can't get out and when we can't gather with our family and friends, but know that we stay home so that when we do gather again, fewer of our loved ones are missing. And we WILL gather again. Until then, stay safe, and we'll see you next week!
