9 Things We Know About Rise of the Resistance
Rise of the Resistance is Disney's premier attraction in it's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge lands in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. With an official opening date of December 6th (but a soft opening on December 4th), here is what we know about the main attraction of this land.

1. It's a long ride
This is one of Walt Disney World's longer attractions with a ride time of 15 minutes.
2. It uses 4 different ride vehicles...
... Including a moment when passengers freely walk around the deck of a Star Destroyer Hanger in front of 3 dozen storm troopers and several Imperial Guards.
3. It's huge
It's about 2/3 again BIGGER than the average Costco.
4. Holograms are nifty
These aren't your old fashioned Haunted Mansion holograms anymore. These are incredibly realistic.
5. The animatronics might just put the Na'Vi shaman to shame
Up until this point, the shaman on the Na'Vi River Journey ride was known to the be the most fluidly moving and lifelike audio animatronic, but then there's Kylo Ren. And it's pretty amazing.
6. Disney is currently using a virtual queue system
Disney also did this for Star Wars Galaxy's Edge but only on opening day whereas since Rise of the Resistance is a very anticipated attraction and is opening during the holiday season which is historically busier for the parks, it's presumed that the virtual queue might last a lot longer for this ride.
The way the queue works is guests use their MyDisneyExperience app to join a "Boarding Group". It's important guests do this even before the published opening time of Disney Hollywood Studios because the park has been unofficially opening 1-2 hours before the posted time. You want to get in a boarding group as soon as possible. They will be gone for the day by 10 am, and even as early as 8 am you would likely be looking at an evening boarding time.
To make this work, make sure you have the most updated version of the MyDisneyExperience app on your phone AND that you have enabled push notifications so that you will be told when your boarding group is ready. This is important. Otherwise you will have to keep checking the app.
7. The ride has already broken down... a few times
On opening day reports indicate the ride broke down several times... understandable for a ride of this level of technology but also frustrating. Thankfully the virtual queue should help with that because you don't end up with a queue full of people in standby waiting for the ride to come back up.
8. It's not a FastPass ride... YET
Rumor is after the virtual queueing system is done (possibly in 2020) the ride will become a FastPass ride. You can bet your bottom dollar it will be a tier 1 ride.
9. Imperial guards use the "Disney Point"
This has got to be a ride that it's downright fun to be a Cast Member on.
Is it even possible Rise of the Resistance is going to displace Avatar: Flight of Passage as the most amazing ride in Walt Disney World! Discuss! (Here in the comments or on our Facebook page) We'll see you next week!
