Let's talk about Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge (aka: That Galaxy's Edge Post)
May the Fourth be with you! (And also with you...)
Everyone's talking about - the opening of a brand new Star Wars themed land in Disney Hollywood Studios (and a counterpart at Disneyland as well). So, let's do that too, shall we?
I hesitate because listen, I don't have drones, or access even to a preview of the land. My budget for this blog is pretty much, uh, non-existent. BUT, man, I am SO excited for this land. Everything I see just keeps looking better and better, and you know what I AM good at? Compiling various pieces of information into one darn exciting post. So, please, sit back, enjoy, as I serve you a smorgasbord of all the awesome Galaxy's Edge stuff I have found recently.

And there's no better way to start off than these aerial photos showing the progress of the land right now.
Here's what we all probably know by this point (unless, of course, you this long-anticipated land is news to you, in which case... WELCOME! Join the party!):
1) It's opening in Disneyland at the end of the this month on May 31st! And earlier than anticipated at Walt Disney World on August 29th!
2) Disney is already putting language on their web site that indicates that there is a capacity limit so it is possible guests may be turned away. This means they are anticipating huge crowds. However, the week of opening, DHS will be open at 6 am, AND from September to November 2, they will host extra extra magic hours from 6 am to 9 am with access to Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land.
3) There will be two rides. On August 29th, the land will open with one of those two rides: Smuggler's Run, which is a motion simulator (think Star Tours). The other ride, Rise of the Resistance, is anticipated later on this year.
4) There will be a Star Wars themed resort hotel at Walt Disney World as well, but it will not open at the same time as the land, and its opening date has not yet been released.

Here are further details:
1) While Disney anticipates huge crowds at opening, neither ride will open with FastPass available. Prepare for long waits. Disney also says that Rise of the Resistance will be the longest attraction ever built with a ride vehicle. Longer than Universe of Energy?? Really???
2) If you opt in, you can have interaction throughout this land with characters based on the alignment you choose. Are you First Order or Rebel? This land can be as immersive as you want it to be.
3) You can make your own custom light saber at Savi's Workshop, which Disney is billing as a "clandestine shop". Yeah, cute Disney... I doubt there will be anything clandestine about it. I'm thinking it'll be like the rookery in Pandora where you can adopt a Banshee.
4) You can build and buy a droid at the Droid Depot! Or as my daughter, who already has the aforementioned banshee declared... "I want a droid!" Yeah, baby, me too.
5) There will be a shop of stuffed animals, which I'm supposing will be themed to Star Wars. Expect to see a lot of this little guy. And there will be another toy shop. I'm thinking this might be more of a Star Wars merch shop.
6) You will be able to get blue milk! The Milk Stand will have both blue and green milk, but they are being billed as "sweet treats" in some places, and reports indicate it will be soft-frozen and non-dairy.

7) There is a lot of interesting stuff to eat beyond blue milk. Ronto Roasters sounds like a meat place. Disney describes it by saying as you enter you will see a pod-racer engine heating up a spit of ronto meat. Docking Bay 7 sounds like the main quick service location, and the previews of the menu look amazing. Check it out here.

8) I'm very excited about the Cantina. Mostly I'm excited about the words Disney is using on their website: "...patrons can be… unpredictable, so just keep your head down—and drink casual". Does this mean there will be interactive things happening in the Cantina?
9) ALSO, the Cantina happens to be the first location at Disneyland (not the first at Walt Disney World) to serve alcoholic beverages, and they look AMAZING. I want to order a yubnub right now, just so I can say the word.

10) While the resort's opening date has not been released, floor plans have been. Check them out here.
Oh my gosh, I am so excited! What are you most looking forward to about Galaxy's Edge?
