Happy 20th Birthday, DAK!

Disney's Animal Kingdom opened on April 22nd 1998.

When selling the concept for the park, Joe Rohde had trouble convincing the other imagineers and executives that animals would be interesting enough to hold people's attention. So he invited a live tiger into the conference room.

Everyone fell silent, captivated by the live animal stalking into the room. And I don't remember the exact words that were said to have been spoken, but I think it's something like Joe Rohde said "Oh, really??".

Animal Kingdom is also MY park, having been the park I interned in during my College Program.

So happy 20th birthday, DAK! I can't believe how much you've grown.
